It's Baaaack!

My computer! All fixed...minus any programs we added to it BV (before virus). I still can't post pictures because I would have to install the camera's software. I can't install the camera's software because the camera is not working very well. Since we need to buy a new camera I will wait until then to install the new camera's, undoubtedly vastly improved, software.

Snow! OMG, did it snow. I took a great picture of the snow at 1:35 this morning. Now, why did I take a picture of the snow? I can't get the picture into the computer without the old camera's software installed. *rolling eyes and shaking head* But, the snow was so deep. It took me four trips to get the recycling box and two big garbage cans out to the end of the driveway. Then I found a garbage can I'd forgotten about. Not to mention that I had to shimmy through the little opening the gate allowed due to the snow build up to fetch the second big garbage can from under the deck and haul it around to the back door. I didn't think the snow was all that deep until I noticed the bottom six inches of my pant legs were wet. There was no school today. There was no newspaper delivery. There was no mail. There was no recycling nor garbage pick up today. I sure hope the local bears are all hibernating because I have no intention of slogging back down the driveway to haul the blue box and cans back inside the house.

Love snow, just not driving in it.

Snow is only for admiring from the warmth of my home.

You've got bears roaming around that urban area? We have them, too, in Colorado during the summer (they hibernate) so we have to be careful about putting out the trash overnight. I didn't see any sign of them this past year, and have mixed feelings about that.

Last Fall I was dodging big, piles of bear poop as I drove along our back lane in my new car.

Nice for you to be back.

Isn't snow rare in your location due to your proximity to the Pacific? I saw a program about Sasquatches, Yetis and abominable great apes on TV and they were stalking one all over your Island! Never found it. I do believe now that there are abominable unidentified ape-like species in North America. Up until a few years ago I laughed at the idea.

Generally, when it snows around here, it melts fast. Tomorrow the forcaste is for a high of 8C/46F. Downright balmy after the recent lows of -7C/19F. We only get a few cold snaps during the Winter. The last one, without fail, always happens around Valentine's Day.

I bet you are over the moon to be back on line with a pc as opposed to a laptop (I know I was last year when my monitor died & had to use my sons laptop). I hated having to use the scroll pad thingy.
Our snow has been gone for getting onto a fortnight now () we have got heavy rain now though ( ). I think a fresh outbreak of snow has hit Scotland recently, I was speaking to a friend up in Inverness last night and he mentioned it.
Good to have you back Marg

It's melting fast. We usually have a couple of cold snaps each Winter but it's gone pretty quickly. I might be able to drive myself to my doctor's appointment tomorrow.

I just wade through the snow. No sense shoveling it. It will melt eventually. (I shovel for the exercise, anyway.)
comment by solitaire on Jan 13, 2011 6:38 AM ()
I thought about shoveling but I'm in no shape for that much exertion. I would do myself an injury.

Glad you are back, Marg. Now tell us what you are knitting.

I'm currently working on charity hat number 49. Only three more after that and I can go back to work on my Peacock shawl or maybe my Aran vest. I am rather chilly.

Glad your computer is back. Ours has many problems now and we will probably have to get a tech to empty and reload all programs. This is the aftermath of the virus we had a couple of months ago. Get DH to help you with stuff like hauling things in the snow. Or were you having fun?

DH was out of town.....again.

one good thing about apartment living is not having to bother about hauling trash out...or cut grass...or paint.

Trash cans seem to have disappeared during the night. DH may have moved them out of my line of vision (behind the fence) or maybe a bear took them home to his den.
