Soap in a Coat

This pattern is for a basic soap coat that will felt as it is used. You can dress it up by using different coloured wools or knitting textured stitches. Use up your scrap bits of wool. You are only limited by your imagination. You can tuck one or two in a Christmas stocking or a birthday basket of bath products.
Materials: 1 50g ball of worsted weight wool.
Please note – Superwash wool will NOT felt. Wool blends will not felt as well as 100% wool.
1 pair of needles size 5mm / 8 US or 1 set of double pointed needles for knitting in the round.
Size: Fits 8cm X 5cm X 2cm / 3 in X 2 in X 1 in bar of soap
Tension: 16 sts and 22 rows = 10cm X 10cm / 4 in X 4 in
Instructions for two needles:
Cast on 32 sts.
Knit 16 rows.
Cast off 32 sts.
Instructions for knitting in the round:
Cast on 32 sts. Divide onto three needles (11 sts, 11 sts, 10 sts).
Knit 16 rounds.
Graft sts together.
Finishing:
Sew side seams. Insert bar of soap into the pouch and sew top seam.
The wool will felt when used.
