Topsy Turvy Doll





MATERIALS: Worsted Weight Yarn: Dress - 50g Turquoise and 50g Pink
Skin - Leftover scraps of Beige and Brown
Hair - Leftover scraps of Yellow and Black
Face - Leftover scraps of Red, Pink and Blue
1 set of 4 double pointed needles - size 3.5mm/4 US needles
1 set of 4 double pointed needles - size 4.5mm/7 US needles
30cm/12 inches Pink ribbon
30cm/12 inches Turquoise ribbon
Enough polyester fibre fill to stuff two heads and two chests.
1 darning needle

TENSION: Not important

Head: With skin colour and smaller needles cast on 30 stitches.
Divide stitches evenly on 3 needles.
Knit 15 rounds
(K2tog), repeat for 1 round. (15 sts)
[(K1, p1), repeat for 1 round] 4 times.

Chest: Knit into front and back of each stitch in next round. (30 sts)
Knit 1 round.
Change to dress colour.
Knit 15 rounds.
(K2tog), repeat for 1 round. (15 sts)
(K2tog), repeat to last stitch in round, k1. (8sts)

Skirt: Knit into front and back of each stitch in next 3 rounds. (64 sts)
Knit 24 rounds.
Change to larger needles.
Knit 12 rounds.
Purl 1 round.
Knit 1 round.
Change to 2nd dress colour.
Knit 1 round.
Purl 1 round.
Change to smaller needles.
Knit 24 rounds.
K2tog for 3 rounds. Do not break yarn. (8 sts)
Sew waists of skirts together.
Knit into front and back of 7 sts, k1. (15 sts)
Knit into front and back of each stitch in next round. (30 sts)
Knit 15 rounds.
Change to skin colour.
Knit 1 round.
(k2tog), repeat to end of round. (15 sts)
[(K1, p1), repeat for 1 round] 4 times.
Knit into front and back of each stitch for 1 round. (30 sts)
Knit 15 rounds.
Cast off 30 stitches.

Arms: With skin colour and larger needles cast on 6 stitches.
Work I cord for six rows.
Change to dress colour.
Continue with I cord for 18 rows

Finishing: Stuff chests with polyester fibre fill.
Sew arms to chests.
Sew hands together.
Stitch faces on heads.
Stuff heads with polyester fibre fill.
Sew tops of heads closed.
Stitch hair on heads.
Tie ribbons around waists.

Oh gosh I had a reversible doll like that, I had forgotten all about it. Mine was made of cotton, simple home-made. Loved it!

I love this! Love, love, LOVE this!!! If you remember, I can't knit a stitch...or purl, either, lol...but I can certainly get my mother to make this for me! I love it. Did I tell that I love it?
