Ohhhhh Fudge!

This morning I turned the air blue with the F word, the S word and the D word several times. It all started yesterday when Mom and Kim tired me out by dragging me all over Nanaimo. OK, so it just Bowen Park and the walk was my idea and it certainly didn't seem like we were walking for very long but last night I was utterly exhausted and nodded off three times while working on my shawl. I eventually gave up trying to knit and went to bed not realizing the damage I had done. I undoubtedly exacerbated the problem this morning when I picked up the shawl by the needles. Apparently, last night while I was dozing I dropped TWO stitches. Not side by side but about 24 stitches apart. I was able to catch them before they ran any further down the shawl but I need to tink (knit in reverse) back about four rounds (704 lace stitches per round) to fix it. This is going to take a while. I would like to say I have learned my lesson from this and will no longer be knitting when tired but it's happened before and I'm sure it will happen again.

This isn't my shawl but you can see what a mess a couple of dropped stitches can turn into if not caught in time.

I've ripped out and redone so many inches of this current project I can work on it in my sleep, almost. Oh. Wait. Not a good idea.

I feel your pain. I all most started crying reading your post.
I hope it has all worked out

Hence the phrase, "a stitch in time saves nine"? And to think I read this because I thought it had to do with a fudge recipe!

I'm working on this one myself right now, will have to keep it put up during the day, my little ones like to "play catch" with my yarn balls, don't want to get a lot done and have them ruin 2 days work!! Good luck tinking!

I finished tinking late today. That was four days of tinking due to a two minute snooze while knitting. Now it knit back to where I was four days ago when I dropped the stitches. I hope you have better luck with yours.

I regularly drop stitches (usually when I stop paying attention for a few minutes) and I know how aggravating that is and my work NEVER has so many stitches to deal with. How long will it take you to fix it?

I unknit one round yesterday and with luck I will have another one done by tonight. It's slow going and I'm not very motivated.

How discouraging to start the day with such a challenge. Now I know why I lean towards colors for design rather than intricit paterns for design. I agree with Kim, good thing you are an expert.

I prefer lace because I spend more time trying to detangle the different coloured balls than I do knitting. The dog lady next door loved her doggy bag.

Do the kitties get into your knitting? Blame it on them.

Not since the first cat we ever owned plucked one of my lace shawls to death. This project is kept in a small, UNused, plastic garbage can along with the pattern, a pen and a pair of embroidery scissors.

I never run into this problem staying away, as I do, from complex artistic situations. (Since my art class closed for the summer, I haven't done any artwork at all, at all.) My former therapist in NYC named one of her cats Tink. I love that name.

Besides, my arm still hurts from dragging you......
