I'll Sleep Well Tonight!

I made the supreme sacrifice and decided to forgo washing the floors today so I could walk the track again. That's two days in a row! I'm looking forward to another great night's sleep. I tell ya; thirty minutes of speed walking works so much better for me than melatonin and sleeping pills combined which, by the way, I've never actually tried. I was a bit miffed when I arrived to see an elementary school gym class jogging around the track. Fortunately, before I finished my first lane they had all congregated at the broad jump pit. As I was passing I realized the kids looked to be about ten and I wondered if it could be The Ten Year Old's class as his school is only five minutes away from the track. I also realized that with his recent surgery there was no way he'd be participating in any kind of sports however, there was a kid standing beside the sand pit with a clip board and the teacher. He was writing down the distance each child jumped. His hair was the right colour and he was the right size and build. Did The Ten Year Old own a red hoody and black runners with red shoelaces? Possibly. If only he'd turn in my direction.....and he did, just as the teacher stepped into my line of vision. I finally got to see his face on my fourth time around the track and yes, it was him but his teacher was talking to him so I just trotted on by. The fifth time around he was bouncing up and down singing what sounded suspiciously like the theme song to Rocky so I hollered his name but being a typically oblivious ten year old he didn't hear me. So I bellowed his name and he turned around and stared at me. I hollered, "Hi!" and he shyly said, "Hi." and gave me a little wave back. I was a little worried that I might have embarrassed him but on my sixth and last time around the track the class was all lined up, ready to head back to the school and he hollered,"Bye!" and waved at me.
Guess I'll go vacuum up the cat hair now. I'll scrub the floors tomorrow.

Awwww, that's neat that he said, "Bye". Youngsters sure are funny about stuff like that. Gotta keep up their image, I guess. hehe

Great post, I enjoyed it.

I use a slightly dampened sponge on cat hair before vacumning.

Go girl go! I have got to draw some inspiration from you. I started paying more attention to my eating habits again......then seemed to fail miserably at the end of the week. But I will not let myself quit. I just need to get myself back into the walking and/or bike riding habit. I will. I'll just keep reading your blog and that will help me to get motivated!!!
Thanks for all the help with my blog. Still a few things that don't work right....but I can add friends now! YEA. I still can't search for anybody - like you and I tried yesterday....but I'll hunt and peck my way around.

I applaud you and your walking! With determination you will find that a day just doesn't seem right without a walk in it. That's how it was for me, until I let myself fall out of the good habit of regular walking. Once I get going again, though, it'll become a major part of my routine. Keep up the good work! Plus, you might get to see a "familiar face" again!

Boys are different from girls aren't they. My son might as well have been a stranger especially during his teen years.I am still waiting for warmer weather to begin my walking!

I am so glad we don't have a cat - the battle with the hairs would drive me nuts! Although I do have a daily battle with crumbs though! My 15 month old daughter is allergic to everything and even a biscuit crumb touching her face makes her nose and eyes run - imagine what happens if she eats it!

I am beginning to believe that vacuuming up pet hair is an endless battle. I say walk the track and just gather up the cat hair and spin it.

I have a friend who uses the middle school track when it gets later (cooler). She is pretty fit. I wouldn't do it... really don't like exercise! Good for you!!
