Hyper Mutt
Hyper Mutt
I've been suffering from insomnia lately. I haven't been able to get to sleep before 2:00AM, even with melatonin, so when the phone rang shortly after eight this morning I was not a happy camper. Coupled with the fact that I am not, never have been and never will be a morning person, it was a bad start to my day. I didn't realize DH hadn't left for work yet so I threw off the covers and stomped down the hall fully prepared to give someone an earful. I heard DH's voice downstairs so, assuming it was work related, I turned around and marched back to bed. I was just getting comfy in my still warm bed when DH came into the room as told me the call had been from DD#2. She wanted me to babysit. Not a grandchild this time but the family dog, Titan. The roofers were at her house and their dog was freaking out. Well, I couldn't turn away the poor, freaking pooch so I got up and dressed. Fortunately, our cat, Angel, had spent the night in her bed, downstairs and would not be rising until her usual time of mid to late afternoon. I took her food and water bowls downstairs, checked that her litter box was clean and hoped she wouldn't get curious as to what strange creature was tripping around upstairs as we all know what happened to the "curious cat". I set the baby gate up at the top of the stairs so Titan couldn't get down to Angel's living quarters and prepared myself for the prancing, slobbering beast. She arrived in due time and was so excited to finally be allowed in my house. She pranced and danced. She she slobbered all over me and left trails of drool in her wake. She gazed, longingly at her mommy's car as it drove away, leaving nose prints and snot on my livingroom window. Then she started exploring. I had closed off all the rooms with doors but she had full access to the livingroom, hallways, kitchen and diningroom. She sniffed every inch of the floors and then went back and sniffed it all again. She jumped at every little noise. She ran to the front door every few minutes when the morning sun caused the metal to make little thumps as it expanded. She made a great doorbell when a neighbour came collecting donations, for the MS Society of Canada, with one nice loud, "BARK!" The hyper mutt is in constant motion but I expect she will calm down eventually.....like 15 minutes before her mommy returns to pick her up, some time after 6:00PM.

Who's there!

Did I hear something?

What was that!

Are you taking my picture again?
