Chiengora and Wool

As I now have confirmation that Islander has received her birthday present I can show you what it is.

A Doggy Bag.

I knit it with Islander's dog's hair (chiengora) mixed with wool. The dog hair is the buttery coloured yarn and the wool is the grey/brown coloured yarn. I decorated it with a brass button and little brass beads on the tails. I knit two rows of what are supposed to be hearts with the wool. Top row right side up and bottom row upside down. I can see her wearing it, in my mind's eye. It looks great on her.

More wool:

I have a little tea pot I bought on sale for $10.00 at a craft fair. The first time I tried to use it I discovered why it was on sale. My large sized, fully enclosing tea cozies held the heat in so well the handle and spout got too hot to touch. Also, the little lid fell off every time I tipped the pot. This new tea cozy exposes the handle and spout and as it doesn't need to be removed to pour the tea, the lid is held firmly in place.

Chrysantemmumm Shawl Update:

I'm now working on the border. There are 96 pickets around the circumference of the shawl and at 4 pickets an hour I should be done in just under a week.

The doggy bag looks even better in real life and so far the source (my dog) hasn't tried to attack it. Of course, the fact that it doesn't smell like dog helps as well. Love my gift

I wonder how Tartan would have reacted if I'd knit the bag out of cat hair.

Thank you.
Chien is French for dog. Gora because it's fuzziness (halo) resembles angora.
I'm going to try making some **chatgora** soon.
**I think I just made that up.

Le chiengora, c'est tres bien! And your teacosy is smashing! Oops-pardon the expression.

Merci. "Smashing" That's what I was tempted to do to the teapot the first time I used it.

Love the tea cozy and the purse. My little sister wears those knitted bands that are wider than a hair band, that you might wear skiiing, to cover your ears. If you made one of dog hair, I'd buy it for her in a second.

Keep checking my Etsy shop. I can knit one when I get my hands on some more dog hair.
I'm thinking of getting a dog. One that has a nice long undercoat.

Neat purse, and novel idea with the tails with little brass beads. Love the colorful tea cozy and so compact.

Thanks but you need to take some credit for it too. After all, you spun the dog hair.

Islander thinks so too.

That tea cozy is the coolest thing I have ever seen.

A cool cozy to keep my tea hot.

You're quite the accomplished chiengora spinner/knitter now, and what a funny yet appropriate name for that kind of yarn. I'm very impressed. I love that tea cozy - it looks so functional.
