Yesterday's Craft Market
was THE BEST!
I hadn't been there for all of August and what a change from June and July. People were friendly and saying, "Good morning." They were watching me spin and asking questions and best of all, they were buying stuff. I usually make one or two sales each Sunday but yesterday I made ten and not the smaller, inexpensive items. One man paid $50.00 for two purses for his granddaughters. A lady spent $60.00 on my Foliage Lace Shawl. The last time I came close to making that much money was last year when a cruise ship, full of Americans with money burning holes in their pockets, was in port.
I watched and listened while a German tourist explained to her friend how I had made the felted purse. I was surprised I could understand what she was saying. I wanted to tell her, "Ja, sehr gut." but I was afraid she'd try to converse with me in German and ich spreche sehr wenig Deutsch.
I got a lot of spinning done and although I had brought the Australian baby set with me I couldn't work on it as I was constantly being interrupted (not that I'm complaining) by questions and customers.
Yesterday's moronic mother shouted out, "Oh look honey! She's making yarn with a loom." I politely informed her it was a spinning wheel and her attitude was like, "whatever". Why don't these mothers just ask me what I'm doing instead of acting like they know everything. At least this one didn't try to tell her kid I was making wool.
I think I'll go back to basking in the glow of yesterday and working on the Australian baby coat. It's about half done.
