Yesterday's Craft Market

It would have been a crashing bore except for three things.
#1) DH spent half the afternoon with me, at my booth.

He read his book and I knit on the commissioned shawl while tourists and locals alike strolled past my booth, totally oblivious to the wealth of fibrey treasures on my tables.

#2) My three year old granddaughter and the other grandmother showed up and as it had started to rain, they stayed for a while, in my nice dry booth, and we had a nice chat.

It rained on and off most of the day. I had to pull my three tables in, under my Walmart gazebo, as everything was getting wet.

#3) I sold a pair of fingerless gloves for $12.00.

At least I sold something and that's better than nothing.

This year everyone seems so unfriendly. I gave up giving passersby a cheery, "Good morning!" or "Hi!" Even the folks who were looking at my stuff ignored my friendly greeting. Last year, people (complete strangers) would stop to chat about knitting, spinning, pets, the weather..... This year I'd have to jump up on one of my tables and do a strip tease before anyone would notice me.

It's nice you had a chance to visit with family and, from time to time, look over to DH reading, a pastime I find myself doing a lot. Sorry you got such a surly crowd. If you plant to strip, take a video. I'm sure I speak for all of us when I say you'd have to post it.

Maybe the lack of summer weather is contributing to everyone's lack of friendliness. I find that most people seem in a much better mood when its warm and the sun is shining. I still haven't been to our Saturday market this year (it opened at Easter) because every time I plan to go, the weather doesn't cooperate. But I'll definitely be there this coming Saturday as I am selling Library fund-raising items, raffle tickets, etc. this week.

This is Port Alberni. If I waited for the weather to cooperate, I'd never go anywhere. I hope your weather is nice and you make lots of money for the library.

At least I have my knitting and spinning to turn to. The other vendors just sit there looking bored to tears.

The best part sounds like the chance to chat with your family members, and that's no small thing.

DD#2 has stopped by to visit a few times with the kids. I love seeing them.

That sounds disappointing. Better luck next time! Or should I say, better class of tourists next time!

Or maybe they were all just heading for the washrooms.

eh!!! a strip tease would be interesting and you could slowly cover the special parts with your handcrafts, that would get their attention. perhaps the rain put people in a grouchy mood.

MOTHER!
On second thought I'd probably drive them away.
