Don't Ya Just Love it When Renos ...

are finished? When we bought this house, in 1982, I wanted the sidewalks widened. A lawnmower or baby stroller would barely fit. Turn it a slight angle to the left or right and the wheels were on the grass. Years ago, while gardening, I inadvertently placed one foot half on and half off the sidewalk and fell face first onto the concrete. I had the wind knocked out of me and cracked my front teeth, not to mention the skinned knees and scraped hands. Fortunately, DH was nearby and helped me into the house. He helped me into the bathroom and sat me on the commode while he searched for bandages and such and I promptly hyperventilated and passed out, falling on the hard linoleum floor. As I was already unconscious when I toppled off he toilet my poor bloody hands were spared and my head took the brunt of the blow. This was the fall that bent one of my favourite gold earrings. Getting back to the sidewalk renovations, on June 10th a backhoe appeared in our driveway ready to begin removing the old sidewalk in the morning.

I won't bore you with how big the chunks of concrete were that they hauled away or how the neighbour ogled the the beautifully tanned and muscular bodies of the young men who laboured sans shirts in the hot sun. Bodies glistening with sweat... No, I won't tell you about the neighbour. But I do have some before and after pictures.

Something I have always wanted to do was write in someone's fresh, concrete sidewalk. No way could I pass up this opportunity. The workmen called me when it was at peak writing consistency.

It was a lot more difficult to draw in than I had anticipated.

Thank goodness it's all done. Now we can think about landscaping down the side of the house. Flowers and bushes and gnomes, oh my!

It really looks great. I am anxious to see the gate. I wouldn't have minded gazing at those young men either! After all, I am not dead
yet~!!

Congratulations, it's just beautiful. Scrolled all the way to the bottom, and no sweaty, six packs, but I suppose those are in the neighbor's camera.

Over all the years since your face plant, how often did all that, including the earring, and the need for renovation come up in dinner table conversations? Now what will you two talk about?

Hell of a shock no wonder you passed out , ahhh1 wet cement a big attraction for doodling , seems tou have put a lot of thought into the reno's and that path and steps certainly make it safer.
