Seriously, I really want to know. We are having new sidewalks put in and the workmen found this buried under the old sidewalk. I'm guessing; maybe it's part of a pump? I don't even know which end is up. I have a feeling it's lying sideways.
Anybody know what this is?

It's a conversation piece! Maybe you can work it into your new landscaping.
Keep it and ask every visitor what it is!
I don't know either, but the bracket on each end suggests it is not lying sideways, that it supported something that hung from it or lay across it.
It looks like part of a fireplace or a foot scraper to me but then I am not good at recognizing objects.
