What a Weekend!

This is going to be rather short as I'm going on vacation tomorrow. Won't be gone long though. I feel like I'm taking mini vacations.

On Friday morning DH drove me down to my mom's (MaryC), in Nanaimo. He hung around long enough to show off my new car then he was off to do DH stuff. Mom, Kim (Nursekim), and I headed over to Timmy's for lunch where we met up with nephew (S), who drove us all down to the Cowichan Exhibition aka fall fair, just north of Duncan. I thought I'd taken a picture of the arts and crafts building too but all I can find is the horse competition.

Beautiful beasts.

By the time we returned to Nanaimo it was time for dinner. Someone suggested Chinese and I was all for that. After gorging on sweet & sour pork, deep fried prawns, chow mein and a host of other tasty morsels at the buffet we waddled back to mom's to rest our feet.

Saturday morning we attended the Vancouver Island Fibre Festival in Nanaimo's new convention centre where I amassed an embarrassing amount of fibre and knitting supplies.

Fibre artists selling their wares.

I bought one of these skeins.

More fibre artists in another room.

Some fibre artists, one button lady and some quilting supplies.

I'm sorry I have no pictures of my purchases yet. I'll post those when I get back from my next vacation. Don't let anything exciting happen while I'm gone.

Comments:

Being from Chicago and New York, I only know the phrase "button man" and it refers to a hired killer. I am guessing the button lady leads a quieter life.

Looks like a large fiber market there. Can't wait to see what you make with the hummingbird skein.

Sounds like the three of you had a great weekend. I wonder where the button lady was from since we have a good one here on the island. I'm not surprised to see that you made your share of purchases at the fibre fair.

now you have a real great time Marg ------- love those horse photo's that first one is a what we call a heavy horse --have never seen them ridden in competition ---With all those markets you would be like a kis in a candy store

It's getting more popular to ride the heavy horses - probably due to the Canadian Clyde Ride - they do a musical type ride.
