Where Has the Time Gone

Monday I was busy designing my new lace shawl.
Tuesday was the Weaving and Spinning Guild meeting.
Wednesday was my knitting group that turned out to be a spinning group of two.
Thursday I went spinning at Bradley Centre for the day.
Friday I had a house inspector over to inspect the house for insurance purposes.
Today I need to go grocery shopping or starve.
I'm hoping for a more peaceful week coming up. I've finished the designing and want to see if the knitting up corresponds to the written pattern. Wish me luck.

Lazy weekends are the best. I hope you are enjoying one!

Not exactly a lazy weekend when I feel driven to finish my Christening shawl.

What did you work at before you retired? Was it related to knitting? After reading comments, I now know why I dont knit - I have good hand skills but suck at math. I knit one sweater years ago with guidance from a friend when I needed to reduce/augment. I don't wear it much because Florida is mostly not sweater weather. But I wore it all the time up north.

I ran my own business; a family daycare but I worked in accounting before that. You don't need math skills if you're just following a pattern.

Hmmm, that actually sounds like a very peaceful week doing your hobby/passion.

I can't wait to see the black beaded lace shawl.

It's next year's donation to be auctioned off at the annual Sweetheart Dinner & Dance in February. I'm hoping it will bring in lots of money for the local Rotary Club to continue their good works.

Good luck. But hope it won't come to that!

Thanks. I hope not.

Do you knit more during the cold winter months than in summertime?
comment by steeve on Mar 23, 2013 10:03 AM ()
If I knit less in the summer it's because I'm outside, on the deck, spinning. My hobby isn't dependent on the weather, like gardening. Actually, it's not a hobby. It's my passion. I'm actually saving a black, beaded, lace, shawl project to work on outside when the weather warms up because dark coloured stitches are a lot more difficult to see with poor eyesight and indoor lighting.

Sending good luck wishes your way. Is that how it works, designing? I pictured it as knit a row, write it down, knit the next row. That's how I keep track of how I'm doing a sleeve so I can make the second sleeve match. I would have put both of them on one big circular needle so the mistakes would have been the same, but didn't have a big enough needle.

If I'm designing something from scratch, I work a row and write it down, work a row and write it down, etc. However, this shawl will be a match with my Day flower Christening Gown so there were just a few changes and lots of math to ensure it will lie flat and not have a bump in the middle. Of course, I won't know for sure until I've finished it.
