Spinning Tales

This is the superwash merino I was spinning at Mom's earlier this month. I spun it fine and plied two strands together. I think I need to spin my yarn tighter as the 2 ply seems very thick after setting the twist.

This is destined to become a long cowl I can loop around my neck several times when it's cold or leave dangling if I get too warm.

This is what I'm currently working on. It's a blend of 50% dog hair and 50% Blue Faced Leicester. I have no idea what type of dog this hair came from. I found a big zip lock bag full of black fur and I'm assuming it's dog hair. I think that might be DD#2's handwriting on the bag. She's written "Blueberries Aug 23" so, that's no help. She does have a black dog but it's part lab with short hair.

Looks as though I've shaved a witch's head.

The spun yarn is very hairy. Looks a lot like mohair.

On a lighter note, I thought you might like to see what DH and I bought for this years Christmas party gift exchange.

For a guy we have the ever stylish alligator slippers.

And for a lady, these lovely gorilla slippers.

I'm considering going back to the store for the pit bull slippers for DH.

The gorilla slippers could be for a man, too, you know!

I know but there was no ladies size in the alligator slippers.
Was that a hint?

The multi-colored yard will make a beautiful cowl! Lovely!
And the slippers are a riot!

The cowl should be ready for next Winter.

Those slippers are a good idea for those gift exchange parties. Thanks for the tip!

Aren't they a hoot!

I really like multi-colored yarn because it's more interesting to work with and see how it comes out. Love those slippers - especially the monkeys because they have such a wise gleam in their eyes.

I can't wait to see what the yarn looks like, knit up but I haven't even found a pattern I like, yet.
