Painting the House
This is what our house looked like up until last week.
The exterior walls were embedded with a gazillion little rocks. However, we only have a billion still sticking to the stucco as every time we looked at it a dozen or hundred of the pebbles would fall off. Our house looked like it was straight out of the 60's, which is when it was built. It was also pretty dirty and we were afraid we'd loose the rest of the little rocks if we got it power washed so we looked at painting as an option. The paint we opted for is more like a rubberized coating that not only protect the exterior walls but should never need to be reapplied.
It took days to prepare the surface for painting and the temperatures were in the 30's C (90's F). Unfortunately I never got to see if the painters took their shirts off because this was the view from all of my windows and doors, except for the front door.
First they put on two undercoats. It didn't matter what colour as it would be covered by the final colour. I'm sure the neighbours thought we couldn't decide on a colour.
Second layer of undercoat.
The final application and it's done.
It took us ages to decide on a colour. Blah taupe seems to be popular in town but it just seemed too cold to us. I'm still sad that DH didn't like my mural idea.;o) But we LOVE the way it looks now.
