Owl Hat & Orifice Hook

I made my DIL an Owl Hat to match her grey vest.

I used some old shirt buttons I inherited from my MIL. I think she inherited them from her MIL. They were chipped and yellowed but somehow they belong on that hat.

Remember my new orifice hook I got last month?
Well, the wire part was a very pliable copper and totally useless for it's intended purpose so I removed the copper wire and replaced it with a brass wire. I also screwed an eye hook into the end of the handle so I can hang it on my spinning wheel. Now it looks like this:

So I paid $15.00 for the pretty wooden handle but now I like and can use it.

I've got one of those orifice hooks but never think to use it. Got so used to using a piece of wire on a string which hangs from my wheel so is always there when I need it. The hat is cute, and such gorgeous colors in the skein of yarn.

I have a bunch of old buttons, too, always try to use them on my knitting projects, so far so good. Nice handle, any way, good thing you were able to make it work for you.
