Clean, Cat & Crafters Market

Clean is the wool I have finally finished washing.

I ended up with two bags full.

The cat is Angel.

Ever ready to try to annoy me. She didn't quite succeed here. No cat hair on my blocked Christening gown skirt but she didn't last too long as the ends of my blocking pins were poking her in the rump.

The Port Alberni Crafters' Market started it's 2012 season today.

Look to the right.

Look to the left.

My booth.
These pictures were taken 15 minutes after we opened for business. It was wet. It was cold and there weren't very many customers. I sold three dishcloths but I had a lovely relaxing time spinning and chatting with those who showed any interest in my wares.

Neat. I wish I could add photos. "It" won't permit me.

Love Angel doing her thing. Nice pix and here's hoping for better weather. My late cat, Scratchy (White, yellow eyes) used to lie on my work space and I would write checks raising her stomach just enough to do the task.

When Angel is gone I will, no doubt, fondly remember her lying on my blocked lace and stealing my chair when I get up to use the facilities.

I'm sure the weather will improve. Part of the fun of an outdoor market is the people one meets.

True but there weren't many willing to stop and chat in the rain.
Women say stuff like, "Is that fun?" and "Did you spin the yarn for all the things on your table?"
Men's faces light up like they've found a new toy. They ask questions like, "How do you make the yarn thinner or thicker?" I think more men should take up spinning but like knitting it has the stigma of being a woman's hobby. Fortunately, no one has ever asked if they can give it a go.

Love the pattern of your christening gown — and Angel!
Hang in there — the people will be coming!

Even some of the vendors who said they'd be there didn't show up due to the inclement weather. I'm not worried if my inventory gets wet. It'll dry.

This wet weather can sure put a damper on things, but the good news the sun will be back on Friday with a sunny week-end coming up.Nice to see D.H in the picture, even Angel didn't take advantage and lay on your beautiful knitting.Good luck next week-end, hope the customers are back in droves.

DH didn't buy anything either.

Glad to see that you are back at the market. Too bad the nice weather couldn't have stayed one more day, but there will be nicer days ahead and then more customs as well.

Things pick up in July when the tourists come. I've already found stuff I want to buy from the other vendors but I've vowed not to spend until I earn back the $100.00 it cost me to be a vendor. $8.00 down only $92.00 to go.

Angel's catly duty is to seek out the place you least want her to nap. I
have a cat theme in the guest bath and just found a lovely picture of
a siamese perched on a ledge at a garage sale. It is art deco and in perfect
condition.

When I find her lying on my knitting I usually just leave her there as there is too much damage done if I try to move her.

How lovely! First day of the season, I'm sure attendance will pick up. People really like those knitted dish cloths - the ones I've given them to just rave about them, so you'll probably get some repeat customers. Hugs to Angel - she looks irritated: probably didn't think she wanted that spot until it was taken, but now she does.

We vendors numbered six. I heard a lot of them didn't show up due to the weather. As for customers, I know that will pick up. Everybody goes down to the Quay on nice days.
I think Angel was planning on lying on my knitting and just realized it's at a 45 degree angle.

Very quiet fair.
How long would it take for me to drive over?
comment by crazylife on May 20, 2012 9:02 PM ()
Only about 12 hours.....not counting stopping for meals, sleeping or the ferry wait & ride.

Just something not right about pics of a fair with no people.
