Idiot
Yesterday was a beautiful day so Don and I decided to take a drive out to the east side of The Island. As we were touring around Parksville we saw an open house sign and decided to investigate. Now, when we were younger we used to make a day of checking out all the open houses (only brand new homes) we could find. It was a bit depressing when we saw one we really liked and couldn't afford but mostly it was fun. So, we found this new subdivision of duplexes and thought we'd have a look. Just driving in we didn't like the area. Streets so narrow they had designated "visitor parking" spaces. If you wanted to go for a walk you would have to walk on the road as there were no sidewalks. There wasn't even space for a sidewalk. The driveways to each unit were about 5 feet long. You couldn't even park in the driveway unless you were parking a motorcycle. A sign asked us to remove our shoes before entering and, of course, I was wearing the shoes that required a shoe horn to put on. We didn't care for the unit. It was open concept which neither of us care for. We would have had a quick look around and been out of there but the real estate agent glommed onto us pretty quick and, not wanting to be rude, we were stuck. He told us this unit was called the Arbour and blathered on about the square footage while pointing out the "wonderful" features. He was eventually called away to another unit and told us to have a look around and he's be back soon. I wandered over to the kitchen counter where where he pamphlets and floor plans for the different units were laid out and discovered we were not in the Arbour but the Evergreen instead. We decided to get out while the getting was good but by the time I'd got those shoes on the agent was coming back down the hill towards us. He told us we should see the two story unit he was coming from. I glanced at Don but he was still in polite mode so off we went to see another open concept duplex. They had built one unit on top of another and called the lower unit the basement. There were rooms in that place that I wouldn't know what to do with. They weren't spare bedrooms because they didn't have any closets. I didn't want to ask because I was just giving the agent more to flap his gums about. At some point I did ask the agent if he had said the first unit was the Arbour. When he confirmed that it was indeed the Arbour I informed him it was the Evergreen. Never being told about the rule, "The customer is always right." he argued the point with me. I told him the floor plan claimed it was the Evergreen and he told me to come back inside so he could prove how wrong I was. I wasn't about to take my shoes off again so I declined and we left. That is one real estate agent who's services we will NEVER use. The idiot doesn't know his Arbour from a hole in the ground.
