Yesterday was a wonderful day. My mom and younger sister (maryc and nursekim) came for a visit. We chatted until it was time to go for lunch at the Water's Edge restaurant. We chatted through lunch and then headed home for dessert and coffee, chatting all the while. Kim had brought another birthday gift for me.
A pile of dyed fleece.
Of course it would need to be carded so she brought along her drum carder for me to use.
I'm practising with some of my fleece before I use it on the gorgeous dyed fleece she gave me. A little dyed grey wool, a little dyed turquoise wool and a little Husky dog hair (also from Kim) makes a lovely big batt.
Two batts are enough for now. I'm impatient to start spinning it.
I tear each batt lengthwise in thirds and begin to spin. Lovely and whatever I knit with this will be extra warm because of the dog hair aka chiengora. Thank you, thank you, thank you Kim.

that looks so fun and isn't spending a day with your sis the best thing ever. I haven't mastered my drop spindle yet not sure I ever will.
Very cool, fun friends and fun tools, lots to enjoy.
The colors are so gorgeous!!!
You're an artist, pure and simple. Can't wait to see your finished product.
sounds like you had a swell time with yer family. I wish I had the eye/hand co-ordination to knit or crochet or such. love to be able to make my own hats, gloves, afgans etc.
reguards yer arthritic and uncoordinated pal bugg
Nice family gathering, of sorts.
Enjoy, Margaret! And you are sooooo welcome
Impressed with your knitting/carding skills. Does Kim knit as much as you?
It's really something to see how you get from those blobs of wool to yarn you can knit up.
What delightful fun! — I'm thoroughly enjoying your creativity! Can't wait for what you come up with next....
