I Dreamed a Dream
Last night I dreamed that although I had closed my day care years ago, the mother of the first child I ever cared for called and asked if I could watch her kid for just this one day. I didn't want to because he was such a brat but she pleaded and begged until I agreed. Shortly after he arrived at my house I looked out the living room window and saw our extension ladder propped, at a dangerous tilt, against the roof with the little terror 3/4s of the way up. I watched in horror as the ladder slid off the roof and the brat fell off the ladder. I ran outside to check him over and he seemed fine so I called his mother to let her know what had happened and she told me she would have to dock my pay because of this incident. I didn't think that was fair considering I was doing her a big favour. At the end of a VERY long day she arrives to pick up her brat and sure enough, she tries to knock off an hour's wages. I was mad and told her that maybe if she stayed home and raised her own children instead of working all day so she and her hubby can afford to send the kids to camp while they go on luxury vacations they might not be such little horrors. I told her I didn't understand why she had bothered to have kids if she didn't want to be a mother. She left in a huff and I thought of how glad I was to have told her off because now she wouldn't be asking me to watch her devil's spawn again.

Continued from yesterday: I forgot to show you the Fair Trade basket from West Africa that I purchased at the Crafters' Market.

I spent all my profits on this little beauty.

I'm not feeling well this week. It started on Saturday and I thought maybe I was just nervous about having overnight company but by Sunday night I was thinking I might have a bladder infection. So first thing Monday morning I call my new doctor and hear his answering machine message that the office is closed until Thursday at 2:30PM. So I drove to the hospital and spent 3 hours and 20 minutes knitting as I waited at admitting, waited in the emergency department, waited for the one and only doctor on call and waited to hear his diagnosis of maybe a bladder infection or maybe a stone. He gave me a prescription for antibiotics, "Just in case."

Monday afternoon I get home and not feeling up to doing anything I turned on the computer to check my mail. Lo and behold there is a message from Etsy. Someone wants to buy Lambert. Yes, the same Lambert I sold the day before at the Crafters' Market. She thinks he's adorable and wants to have him as her ring bearer at her wedding this Fall. After a dozen or so emails back and forth she was delighted to be able to custom order a Lambert in her wedding colour scheme of celadon green and brown.

Green Lambert is on his way to her as I type.

I love the photo of your basket. Mine is in the livingroom and full of my current knitting projects. I found some patterns for a ribbon scarf. A couple are called drop stitch knit and I can either include worsted wool or not. Now that I've conquered the photo thing I'll be able to show you when I finish something.
