Call the Cops!
I got tired of squeezing past the illegally parked restaurant's delivery van and owner's vehicle so I thought I'd call the cops and give them something else to do besides sitting on their duffs in Tim Horton's. I gave them all the information they needed plus my name, address, phone number, date of birth and first born child. He said he'd have someone check it out. A female RCMP officer called back at 5pm. She told me she went right over there but there was no van nor owner's car. I explained that since it was lunch time they were probably out making deliveries. She agreed with me and said she'd check tomorrow and did I want her to call me again to let me know what was happening. I told her, "No, but I'll be calling you again if I see them parking illegally." She said she'd have a talk with them and if they don't comply, stronger measures will have to be taken. Huh? Here I've been parking according to the law all these years because I was under the mistaken impression that I'd get a ticket if I didn't. Silly me. I had no idea it just meant a nice little chat with an officer and I'd be on my way. Maybe they've changed the laws since I got my driver's license. So far I've been lucky and I've been able to use the left turn lane to go around the vehicles when traveling north. One of these dark evenings someone is going to plow into the back of one of those illegally parked vehicles. Maybe it will be a cop.
