Taking a Break

My newest design is going well.....I think. Then again, I thought it was going well yesterday until I realized I had screwed it up somewhere and had to rip out 18 rows of lace. I've redesigned and knit 9 of those rows and I'm hoping to do another 9 before I go to bed. That will leave me exactly where I was last night.

I went for a very chilly walk this afternoon. I bundled up but the temperature was around 0 degrees Celsius and by the time I reached home my face and fingers were freezing. I think I have arthritis in my right hip as it was quite painful walking up and down the hills in my neighbourhood.

I have a doctor's appointment on the third of February. He wants to see how a new prescription is working. Maybe I'll ask him for a hip x-ray while I'm there.

I'm on the third try at applying a collar to my sweater. The button band required 5 tries to lie flat.

I hate...yes HATE doing separate button bands! I'm constantly undoing the last 20 stitches trying to get it to lay flat. Collars are easier. Don't forget the pictures.

The cold is not good for that arthritis either.

Now you tell me.

Snow has finally reached our island. We thought we were luckily because it kept missing us but this morning we have a blizzard outside the window and its -4 degrees and windy. I think this will be a day to stay indoors, except I may have to go outside to shake snow off some of the plants. Sorry to hear about the hip. Isn't is a drag when your aches and pains interfere with your walks? Take care.

The ice and snow are interfering with my walks more than the aches and pains. I'll bet you have some gorgeous snow covered views from your windows. How's your eye?

I love walking and in New York, I would walk everywhere no matter the weather. Bundle up and go. This is later ... it's harder. It's not as cold, but I am colder. Also the scene in New York was more involving. Down here it's birds and scenery. In New York, it's action all the time. No contest.

I enjoyed walking in Vancouver....except for the drunks and druggies begging for money.

I am not diligent enough to walk in that kind of cold. It is so hard to do and I am such a sissy that I have found a route that doesn't require much up
and down hills walking.

I don't mind walking in the cold too much. It's walking in the rain or snow that I object to.

Oh, how I wish it was 0c here.
Today's high was -24.

I'm so glad I'm not there.

Looking forward to seeing your latest design! Take best care in the cold....

Still working on it. It's going to take a while.
Cold? What cold? she says while wearing two pairs of wool socks, long johns, a long sleeved turtle neck, a wool pullover, gloves and a toque......in the house.

Winter was late coming, but now we haven't seen 0C for many days, -12F the other night. I think that translates to something like -23C. Cold isn't as bad for aches and pains as a low barometer, but it certainly doesn't help. My knee is excellent at weather forecasting. Hang in, spring is coming!

We don't usually have a spring. We generally jump from rainy season aka winter to dry season aka summer, sometime in June.

Sorry about the arthritis.

I expected it. It's one of those hereditary things and my mother has it and her mother had it....
