My very first fleece has been washed again and is currently drying outside. It's from a Bluefaced Leicester sheep and before you get your tongue in a twist, it's pronounced, Lester.
Now that I have a lot of the lanolin and all of the animal matter aka sheep poo washed out of it, it's probably less then the two pounds I bought.
You can see there is still a lot of vegetable matter aka burrs, grass, hay left after two thorough washings and three rinses. I need to hand pick it all out before I card the fleece.
Believe it or not, I am thoroughly enjoying the process and can't wait to show you the finished yarn in a week or two. I don't plan on separating the different colours so it should be interesting.

It kind of looks like burnt wood. I'm sure it will look better once it is spun.
I sent a comment re; your border Liecester fleece. I've never seen any before and it actually is blue. I guess mt comment didn't come thru', hit the wrong button I guess.
Those two pounds really spread out big, didn't they?
What fun! Can't wait to see it. Where do those sheep come from? Do you know where when you buy the fleece?
I am looking forward to it.
I have fur bearing animals now. It's no picnic. Come empty my vacuum bags for your next project.
I've been thinking of buying a llama or some other fur producing animal, but I'm sure city ordinances are against it. I wonder if there is a market here for fiber like that?
