It Was So Windy

How windy was it? I was afraid to turn on my computer in case the power went out. Trees, branches, pine cones and items from neighbours' yards litter the streets. I heard a few trees were uprooted and broken off but I don't see any of that in our neighbourhood. Most people had their tall trees removed after the last wind storm we had.

Police and fire crews were kept busy after winds up to 70 kilometres per hour swept through Port Alberni.
Environment Canada issued a warning for the West Coast on Wednesday morning, which called for winds up to 70 km/h and gusts up to 100 km/h.
The warning has since been lifted.
Police were busier than usual for most of the day, RCMP Cpl. Glen Caston said.
“We answered a lot of calls related to alarms, trees down and branches on roads,” Caston said.
Wind toppled trees onto some houses and power lines fell onto another house.

I ran out of that awful sock yarn I'm knitting my fan shawl with so I had to order more on-line. Due to shipping and taxes that one $5.10 ball was going to cost me over $16.00 so I made it worth my while and added four other balls of yarn to the order. Dam Patons for sending me that free yarn. It's cost me $40.00.

I don't mind the cold so much, it's the wind I hate. Blows right into my house, despite my best efforts to keep it out. But, it's 100 yrs old, so to be expected.

Our house isn't as old as yours but it certainly isn't air tight either. I love the wind but not when it's blowing at 70km an hour.

Keep that weather there. We have had enough snow to last us awhile and
now spring keeps creeping up on us. My jonquils are blooming.

My crocuses grew in the wind and bloomed today. Spring is coming.

If those winds became hurricane strength. I must have slept through it not even a branch on the lawn, but for precaution I did take in my bird feeder, and my wind chime when they gave the warning Tuesday night, and I phoned Kim to warn her too. I guess Toffino really put on a good Mother Nature show.

It wasn't as bad, here, as they predicted it would be. I watched a flock of seagulls hunker down in the park. Poor things looked so cold.

And look at that snow on the ground. Hope that wind is whistling its way east across the Canadian plains and giving us a miss.

I'm not sure where the storm started but it came up the west coast from the US.
