Oh Dear
Earlier this year I ordered a set of Caspian interchangeable needles. The size 4.5 mm needles had an annoying problem. The wooden needles were rather loose in their metal bases. The more I used them the looser they became. I was worried a wooden needle would separate from it's metal base entirely and I would loose a considerable number of stitches so I contacted the e-shop I had ordered them from, Knit Picks, and they immediately sent me a free, new pair. Not a week later I was sitting in my favourite knitting chair, a recliner, when I decided to go get myself another cup of coffee. My work was in my lap as I leaned forward and pulled up of the side lever. As the footrest slammed into the front of the recliner I heard a crack and sure enough, when I lifted my knitting up off my lap one of the needles had been broken in two. Now, I have heard of some people on Knitting Paradise bragging about how they got new, free replacements after they sat on, stepped on or had their needles chewed up by pets. I can't bring myself to do that. I don't think Knit Picks should be replacing tools that were rendered useless due to the knitter's carelessness. It seems dishonest to ask for a new needle as it wasn't at all defective when I received it. I might try fixing the original loose needles with a drop of Super Glue or maybe I'll just break down and buy another pair.
