In January I thought I'd start a simple little project. A pair of slippers for my tootsies. I had small amounts of some very pretty yarn. My mother gave me the pattern years ago. I'm not sure where she got it from but she had copied it out by hand for me. I had to start them three times because I kept making silly mistakes and when I was almost finished the first slipper I realized I had misread the pattern and instead of knitting squares I was knitting rectangles. At that point in time I put the partially knit slipper down and didn't pick it up again until yesterday. Instead of ripping out the first slipper I just made the same errors in the second one. Mindless knitting? Not so much.

Those are the type my grandmother used to knit for everyone. I still have the last ones she gave to me, over 20 years ago (she died 13 years ago). I almost hate to wear them since I don't want them to wear out.
Lovely! I especially like the variegated yarn in the squares/rectangles.
They look perfectly fine to me.
You can never have too many hand knit slippers, it's the only thing I wear around the house? well! that isn't actually what I meant.Must get back to my slipper knitting.
They look complicated all the same. Love the two colors.
Looks like they fit!
Very nice. I have a lovely pair of knit slippers my mom made for me. They have worn holes now and I don't wear them, but keep them out of sentiment. My mom was a master of the needle trades and worked as a professional fur finisher on Chicago's State Street (the hub for high end furriers) for years. She tried to teach me embroidery but I resisted. I have warm memories of her efforts and patience.
