One Man's Trash is Another Man's Treasure
I never realized just how true that is until today. Every time The M-I-L foisted...er...I mean offered us her trash, I accepted but the carton of cook books from 1950something that use lard in their pie crusts and everything is fried in butter did not miraculously turn into treasure as it passed to my hands. DH cleaned a lot of junk out of the garage last week. The city held a "dump as much as you want for free" weekend and DH took full advantage. As we were on a roll I decided to post a pile of our trash on Freecycle and everything got snapped up; from the old battered aluminum pots and pans and 65 year old roll-away cot to the ashtrays and escargot bowls and I know one fella who will treasure his nine new beer mugs. If we keep this up we just might, some day have enough room in the garage for a car......a Smart Car. Now I just have to find some treasure seekers for the four toy boxes of broken toys, the freezer that is so big you could stash a few adult bodies in there and the ancient, non working fridge DH had given to him to brew his beer in (DH has never made his own beer). Not to mention the fridge that was in my kitchen earlier this year. OMG! We've been living in this house for 26 years and it shows. Tomorrow I have someone coming to look at my old vacuum cleaner. For 30 bucks he can take it home and give it to his wife for her birthday. ;o)
