Lots-a-sox

Last summer a customer was pestering me for adult sized socks and I kept telling him, "Next year." Well, next year is now and I've been busy knitting hiking/work boot socks in different colours and sizes. Here is the latest:

I'm just finishing up a pair of blue socks. I'm also casting off my Uhura Shawl. I'll take pictures after it's been blocked.

Do you use pure wool, or work a synthetic in there for strength? I can't remember what I've read about doing that. Anyhow, these are such a nice change from the usual socks I see at the knit shop (always wild colors and patterns), I'm almost tempted to try socks, although I thought I was immune. (But back when all I made was dish rags, I swore I'd never be able to knit a sweater.)

It's a blend of wool and nylon. The wool is for warmth and the nylon is for wear. Never waste you time knitting 100% wool socks. They'll be full of holes in just a few months. Wanna know how I know that?

They are too slippery for wood or lino floors but They'd make good bed socks too.

I was going to keep a pair for myself. I even bought new winter boots to wear them in but we haven't had enough snow to even wear the boots. I'm not complaining. It was partially sunny and 8 degrees today.
