Garage Sales and Grandsons

On Saturday a friend and I are going to Nanaimo to what sounds like a fibre garage sale. People bring their excess stash and spinning and weaving supplies they no longer need. I am really looking forward to this. My friend says she got a lot of cones of yarn for a dollar each. Maybe I could start a spinning wheel collection. DH would love that.(rolling eyes) I already have two full sized, working wheels and two tiny decorative wheels. How many constitutes a collection anyway?

I had to get up early (8:00am) to get to my grandson's school to see him present his diorama on Native culture. He had a long house made out of real cedar and he had painted Native designs on the roof. He had carved a little spear for the fisherman in the canoe and had glued down kitty litter for dirt. Very imaginative.

I wish Donna would figure out that she has excess stash.

If I'm never heard from again you'll know I tried!

Do you think she'd notice if you sent the excess to me?

Where did you learn how to knit? I did some latch hooks when I was little but those are easy I imagine in comparison...

My mom showed me the basics when I was 11. I was not impressed with my funnel shaped scarf and tossed it aside as a total waste of time, energy and yarn. About a year later my mom was pregnant with nursekim and I wanted to knit something for her so I knit a pair of baby knee socks and I haven't stopped knitting since then.

The garage sale sounds like a lot of fun. When I was at the funeral in Surrey, I asked someone to point out the Nanaimo bars to me so I could see what they are like. I think the home made ones must be better than those were.

Store bought Nanaimo bars are disgusting I will post my recipe for you.

I agree with elderjane. Two is a pair. Three is a few. More than three would at least begin a collection.

Two is also a couple.

More than three of anything is a collection. Your grandson sounds creative.
Hope it is warming up there.

As I have four spinning wheels, I will consider it a collection. Just wait til I tell DH.
