Cozy Cats Cottage in Comox
We went on vacation for 26 days and left our Angel at Cozy Cats Cottage in Comox. We had never used this kennel before; couldn't find any reviews but it was on the way to the airport so we booked her in. When our vacation was over we picked up a subdued Angel, who was leaving chunks of fur everywhere, and headed home. At home, I opened the box we had left with the kennel and discovered her brush chock full of fur and both syringes sticky and gunky with medication that hadn't been cleaned off in 26 days. One medication is for her arthritis (squirted directly into her mouth) and the other is for her thyroid problem (applied to the inside of her ears). We took Angel in for another thyroid blood test a week later and the vet says the number is 129. (Normal is 19 - 62.) Then she tells us it actually could be as high as 500 but their machine only registers up to 129. She didn't hold much hope for Angel living much longer. She wanted to try another form of the medication thinking it wasn't being absorbed in her ear but when I reminded her that the cat had been in a kennel for 26 days she decided to leave things as they were and retest in a couple of weeks. At the next test the number had dropped to 67. I have sent a scathing e-mail to the owner of the kennel. She is a veterinarian who cares, primarily, for cats. I don't think she will reply as it's her family members who work at the kennel.
