My Computer

is dying from old age. Every time I try to use it, it freezes up on me. I've started using DH's laptop and my tablet to keep my sanity. The tablet is great for e-mails and checking the weather and such but I need a bigger screen to peruse websites for patterns and yarn. DH called an acquaintance who repairs (not sells) computers and he said our antique (8 year old) should be junked, not repaired. Now I need to decide if I want a tower or a laptop. The only two advantages I can see to having a laptop is #1 it is portable but I don't need to take it anywhere because I have a tablet that is even more portable and #2 it takes up less space. I can't see any advantage to buying a tower except the monitor, keyboard and camera are all still in good shape....Well, the keyboard's E has worn off and the camera keeps falling off the monitor but other than that they are quite useable. Anybody have a preference and why?
We just bought a new printer as the old one has been smearing black ink on every copy I print for the past year or so. I am glad I didn't hook it up right away.
I can't access my pictures on the old computer so Part 2 of my vacation blog will have to wait. So sorry. I know how anxious you all are to see my vacation pics. :o}

I lost my last two computers for the same reason--slowing down and locking up. I took this one into the shop for a simple fix (I think it was the RAM chip) and the guy was trash-talking it into hell. LOL I reminded him that I bought it from the shop he's working in only 2 years ago. I still use a CRT monitor. I hate laptop monitors so I will get another tower when the time comes.

Bobby put a new tower on mine because I prefer a desktop. I am satisfied
with it. I like my old keyboard and screen so we didn't see the sense in
replacing it. Ted has a laptop but neither of us like it.

I like the professional feel of a tower, screen, and keyboard. My husband's laptop was a nightmare because we started out without a mouse and used the built in pad. I kept getting sites I didn't want. My hands are not large but I still need a regular keyboard to feel secure. I don't know how people manage their hand-held devices. We don't travel much, but if we needed it, I'd just take my husband's laptop (and he rarely uses it, preferring the tower).

Do you ever find that laptop screens are just too small to look at comfortably? My eyes can't stand to look at the laptop for long. That's the main thing that would make me go for a desktop with full-size monitor.
