The Big Fish

The Port Alberni Salmon Festival is in full swing. DH took me down to Clutesi Haven Marine/Salmon Festival grounds for the full breakfast of two each: eggs, pancakes, sausages, bacon and a serving of hash browns. All for just $7.00. Delicious! After breakfast we wandered around looking at all the old photos fron the Tyee Club and watching all the kids at the water's edge competing in the Bullhead Derby. Those bullheads are ugly little suckers.

The biggest fish, so far, is 32.4 lb.

This isn't The 32.4 pounder but it is A 32 lb salmon just to give you an idea of the size of the fish. I'm sure a bigger one will come along before the end of the festival on Monday.
It's DH's 63rd birthday today but we're not celebrating it until after the Salmon Festival as he is too involved in it to be able to sit down and enjoy any birthday festivities. I did wish him a Happy Birthday and delivered a very sweet kiss (too much pancake syrop).

Isn't he a cutie? He still has all.....well, most of that beautiful, curly hair.

I love that old photo - the photographer did a good job of using the mirror without being seen or having a glare from the flash.

Yes he is still cute, and still has nice curly hair, but what happened to that beautiful Auburn?

Those bullheads are nasty looking little critters. But that salmon, it's a beauty.

That's a bullhead. Kids fish for them in the derby and the longest one wins a prize.

That's a wonderful picture, so full of history and happiness. I wish him the very best in his 63rd year.
