Appreciation

I knit my fingers to the bone for the rug rats and do you think they appreciate my hard work?

From left to right: The 10 Year Old's, The 4 Year Old's, The 2 Year Old's, The 4 Year Old's, The 6 Year Old's.

I gave The Four Year Old his toques and mittens when he arrived this afternoon. He politely thanked me and, at his mother's prompting, removed the store bought hat and mini gloves he was wearing and tried them on. Everything was a perfect fit and I asked him which set he would like to wear to the grocery store. He hummed and hawwed for about ten seconds and quickly donned the hat and gloves he had arrived in. Something tells me he does like the new toques and mittens, though, as he, uncharacteristicly told me he loved me and hugged me FIVE times. He also announced to the cashier in Safeway that I'm the best gramma. How's that for appreciation?

I can still see the smile of pride on your face! The best gramma! Wow!

What beautiful work, as I would expect and I should know. This must be the time of year for such projects because my mom has been knitting up toques like crazy. When I was there this past weekend, I could see 10 of them lined up on a bench in the dining room. Some will be gifts, she said, others will be donated for the church bazaar, but she claims she has more to make. I've always liked toques...they always seem to be in style and they can be so warm.

Kids are funny about their tastes. There could be 101 reasons why he preferred the other set at that particular moment. If you knew the truth, you'd probably laugh your head off. The kids here at the church really surprise me sometimes. It's all very nice work, Marg! Lovin' the skull and crossbones.
