A fellow saw my "pet fur wanted" sign at Sunday's Crafters' Market and we got into a discussion about making yarn from pet hair. He seemed fascinated so I pointed out my skein of Husky/Wool and he quickly stepped over to my yarn table to have a better look and pet it. He touched the skeins next to it and asked if they had any dog fur in them and I told him, "No, that's wool from Wales." He looked at me like I was insane and after a few moments said, "But whales don't have fur." I explained (twice) that Wales is a country in the United Kingdom and we both had a good laugh. Actually, as he appeared to have never heard of Wales I dumbed it down for him and told him it was a place in England.

And his vote counts too.
Sounds like a conversation with my challenged cousin, only she'd never understand it and we'd just move on so then she'd go around telling people about spinning wool from whales.
Very funny, but easily understandable if the person doesn't travel or know their geography, After all Whales are an important topic here, Sorry Taffy! Thanks for the advice on fixing my T.V., it really worked.
Poor Guy, he has missed a lot.
I was at a party last week and when I told a fellow that my husband was from Finland, he said "oh yes, that's the place with the volcano and moon-like landscape". I said "no you are describing Iceland" and he said "aren't they almost the same". Obviously, geography wasn't his specialty.
