Last night I attended October's monthly meeting of the West Coast Weavers and Spinners Guild. I have no one nearby to help me with my spinning skills (or lack there of). I don't want to spin anything like this:
Silk flowers spun into the yarn.
or this:
Gossimer fine yarn.
or even this:
Big blobs.
I just want to spin regular sized yarn I can use to knit with. I want it to be relatively even not thick and thin. I want to be able to spin whatever weight yarn I need for my project. I'm tired of spinning and then trying to figure out what I can knit with it. I was spinning a lot this past year but my skills don't seem to have improved much. You'd think four years of practice would have, at least, made me a competent spinner.
I want to find some local sourses of fibre. I'm wasting my money on shipping fees and I want to make my yarn from scratch. I want the wool that's just been shorn off the beast. I want to wash it and pick the vegetable matter out of it and card it and spin it and knit it.
So, I am now a paid up member of the Guild and if I accomplish nothing else, at least I'll have made some new friends.

If you get that sheep, just think - you'll never have to cut your grass again...
I saw a sign a couple of days ago pointing to a farm that sold fiber to yarn artists like yourself. Immediately you came to mind and I wished I could have taken a picture. Better yet, I wanted to go see the stuff for myself.
Dear me! You are an artist in the finest sense of the word. Have D. H. buy a sheep for a pet and it will provide you with a lot of spinning material.
