Home & Garden > Screws,

Screws,

screw drivers, nails, hammers and I have never gotten along. I think it's because I can't hold anything still. The screws and nails look like they are orbiting a sun as I try to keep a firm hold on them with thumb and fore finger. Screw drivers shoot right out of the screw's groove like a kid off the end of a waterslide and hammers.....well, that's just too painful and embarrassing to recount. I guess that's why I am so dang pleased with what I've accomplished these past two days.

Wall #1 in my laundry room. Two screws, dead centre into the studs thanks to my handy dandy stud finder, and one small nail were installed. I did the cross stitch pictures a good 20 years ago.

Wall #2 required four screws into the studs and one small nail.

Wall #3 took six screws, of which only one lined up with the stud. The other five needed plastic anchors inserted into the wallboard.

Wall #4 is just cupboards and the washer and dryer. This one is just a laundry room related token kitty picture.

It is amazing and I admire you for doing it all by yourself.`

I am not doing any like projects these days. In my first marriage, Jay bought me my own hammer, put my name on it with tape and taught me how to counter sink screws into the floor he was putting down. I enjoyed being part of what he was doing.

For my next project I plan to sand and paint the pink bathroom walls a nice beige.......or hire a painter.

I am not quite sure how you can stand yourself with that organized laundry room wall. I take it that you had to do all this nailing and screwing and stud finding because you got tired of waiting for someone else to do it for you. Around here, Mr. YouKnow makes it into a huge production - lay out the picture(s)/hooks on the floor in the arrangement it will have on the wall. Measure the wall. Measure the picture/item. Measure the back of the picture to see where the hangy part is. Use the level. Measure some more. When he's not here, I just get a hammer and nail and eyeball it.

Don't be too hard on all this organization. Ed starts a project and calls out to me to get him what he needs. And it's usually in the garage and I dread looking for ANYTHING in the garage.

Good for you! Yay! I have got to get a good stud finder and a leveler....

I should have used a leveler too. At least I could tilt the camera so everything looks straight.
