R. I. P.

So, another appliance bites the dust. I had been thinking, no, obsessing over a big bowl of popcorn all day. I was going to save it for the evening when a good movie would be on TV. I wanted it so bad I could taste it. Ten minutes before the start of the show I went upstairs and prepared the butter for melting. I got my Toastess hot air popcorn popper out of the cupboard and poured in a carefully measured amount of kernels. I placed the lid back on the popper and plugged in the appliance. Before my hand had left the plug a spark came flying out of the outlet and the corn popper made a loud "CRACK" noise. I quickly unblugged the useless hunk of plastic and dejectedly poured the corn kernels back into the bag from whence they came. No treat for me that night. Even the movie didn't seem as exciting as I'd expected and I just knew it was due to the lack of a buttery, popcorny snack.

*sniff, sob*Farewell good friend. I wonder if it's recyclable.

When desperate, try the old fashioned way (as Troutbed suggested). Put oil in a kettle, pour in kernels, place lid on, shake over heat.

I've already replaced it with the exact same brand and style. Hopefully, this one will last a bit longer.

Hot air popcorn beats microwaved any day. This week I went to nuke some and it had expired in 2009.

I ran out of popcorn last month so when I next went shopping I bought a big bag of it. Then I forgot I'd bought it and bought another big bag. I had just opened one of the new bags when the popper broke.

When mine bit the dust, I looked for a new one but couldn't find one at a price I could afford (or more likely wanted to pay). I pop corn the troutbend way. Not happy with the results, but like the price.

I love the brand name. I know you know you can put a little oil in a saucepan that has a lid, put in the popcorn and shake it over the heat of the burner. I made your shortbread recipe today.

Are you trying to get me to start a fire......again?
Good, aren't they?

Oh hell.. we have one that looks like that.. I hope it isn't a sign of things to come.... Sorry for your loss... custom popcorn is a necessity sometimes.

Cut down in it's infancy. It was only nine months old.
