Oopsies!

The time is 4:37 AM. It's still dark outside and I'm up for the day. I almost got three hours of sleep. Maybe tomorrow night I'll shoot for four. The dreaded "Blocked Call/Private" was ringing at 3:25 AM. By the time I woke up, scrambled out of bed and ran across the house to the nearest phone they had hung up but I knew it was the alarm company. I woke up DH again and he wanted to drive streight out to his mom's but I said no, I'll call The Favoured One. His phone rings twice before the answering machine picks up so I'll just keep calling until he answers the phone. Well, he picked up on the third ring of my first call. I told him I think the alarm company phoned but I didn't get to the phone in time. He groggily said they hadn't phoned him, thanked me and said he'd head right over to his mom's and we hung up. On the way down the hall to our bedroom and without the aid of coffee I started to think. DH's office has an alarm. No, his office hasn't been broken into for over a year. The phone call had to have been about his mother. Oh well, nothing we can do. DH and I went back to bed and at 3:55 AM the phone started ringing again. DH beat me to it and it wasn't the alarm company. It was the police. They were down at his office where there had been a break in. Oopsies! My apologies to TFO. I feel bad.....so bad. Ya, I'm bad. Anyway, DH is back home and sound asleep and here I sit, wide awake. I guess I can look at it as extra knitting time.

I'm sorry I'm so late reading this...I wasn't going to leave a comment so you wouldn't have to come "all the way back" to an older one of your posts, but I am leaving one because I just wanted you to know that I was here reading your posts as I am trying to catch up on all of them.

That drives me nuts! I know that feeling, Bo started barking this early a.m. and I almost never got back to sleep. Now I'm tired and groggy and I have to go to work. I hate that feeling

Yep. I can feel the sincerity oozing out of yer "badness" from here.

Oh well, that’s what comes with the territory of being the chosen one uh.

Just thinking about the prospect of the dreaded middle-of-the-night call gives me the heebie jeebies.

We can't block these calls. How would we know when the M-I-L falls or when DH's office gets broken into?

I looked into having the "unavailable/private" calls blocked on the home phone. It can be done for a one-time $15 switching fee and $2.25/mo. I didn't think it was worth even that much if it was 100% reliable--which it's not. The phone company lady said that some blocked calls could still get through if the equipment of the company where the call came from was not computable with the equipment of my phone company. Oh well, what can ya do.. good luck cleaning the house, or whatever it was you said you were going to do!
