Last Monday DH had to go to Richmond for work and I went with him. The ferry from Nanaimo was only 25% full so instead of wandering around the ship looking for two empty seats together we wandered around looking for seats that had the best lighting by which DH could do some reading. We made sure to sit as far away from the children's play area as possible. There was no screaming or yelling. No brats running past for me to trip and no snotty nosed rug rat peering over the back of her seat at me as I knit in blissful peace and quiet. It was heaven, shear heaven. By the time we arrived on the mainland it was dark but DH managed to find the Marriott Hotel in spite of the horrendous traffic and the dipshite who tried to run us off the road at 80kph/50mph. The posted speed limit is 50kph/31mph but apparently the entire Richmond police force was on coffee break because EVERYONE was driving at 80kph. We checked in and went downstairs for a delicious dinner. DH read and I knit for the rest of the evening and then we went to bed. The bed wasn't too uncomfortable but I still had a terrible sleep.

DH had to give a presentation at nine AM so we were up at seven for breakfast. His presentation was over by 9:20 and we checked out to go catch the ferry to Victoria where we had a nice visit with Mom in her new digs and dropped off Christmas presents. At 4 o'clock we got back in the car for the long ride home. By the time we hit Nanaimo DH's back was aching and he wanted to stop at Woodgrove Mall to walk around and loosen up a bit. BIG mistake! I accidentally wandered into a jewelry store and this beautiful ring got stuck *wink, wink* on my finger.


It has five opals and 26 diamond chips on it.

After paying for my new bling, DH decided his back was feeling SO much better we immediately left the mall to finish our trip home to Port Alberni.
