Lucky Me

I have scored a trainer for free. It all started a week ago when I placed an ad for the walking poles, The M-I-L gave me, in two local newspapers. I received only one phone call. A lady phoned and seemed kind of unsure of herself. She asked what brand the poles were and I told her. Then she confessed her true reason for calling. She thought that maybe I was selling the poles because I had no one to walk with. She told me she had just completed a walking course in Vancouver and would be happy to walk with me. She caught me completely off guard and I told her no, I just wanted to get rid of the poles. As soon as we'd hung up I asked myself why I had declined her offer. I DO need a walking partner. Without any motivation I simply don't walk. If I don't walk my HDL (good cholesterol) will stay at it's current low level. If I don't raise my HDL Dr Duck will prescribe more pills. So, after thinking over her offer for half an hour I called her back and accepted. Turns out she has recently completed a program that will certify her to teach pole walking and she wants to practice her newly acquired skills on me. Once she gets certified she would like to teach classes but in the meantime, I get to reap the benefits of her expertise. My walking poles are no longer for sale. I cut the tags off and used them for the first time today. I can't wait to go pole walking again. Am I lucky or what!

What an opportunity! I'm so happy you re-thought it over and called her back! I can almost bet that you will look forward to your walks because they will turn out to be fun!

You really are lucky. We used to go for mandatory walks around the neighborhood, hubby and me, but then he developed other hobbies, and I just don't do it on my own because there is always some 'reason' why not, and then another day has gone by walk-less.
