Home Again Home Again Jiggity Jig.

Whistler was nice but it's good to be home. The weather was gorgeous. It didn't start raining until we left. The hotel was clean and comfortable. The bed! OMG, the bed was almost as comfortable as my Tempurpedic. I had pulled a muscle in my back a week or so earlier and I was able to go for plenty of relaxing walks along the Village Stroll. That and the exercises my physio therapist gave me helped immensely. We never made it to the Old Spaghetti Factory nor Ric's Grill. We went to a crepe and fondue place on Thursday night. I was so looking forward to some melted cheesy goodness but DH wanted the 'meat fondue cooked in broth, for two' and the seats were hard wooden benches; not conducive to a leisurely dinner. For Friday night's dinner DH chose a Greek restaurant. He ordered the Moussaka and I tried the Chicken Souvlaki. We were served white bread with a bowl of oil and vinegar to dip it in...YUCK! My dinner came with a skewer of mybloggers chicken, a few pieces of carrot, a mountain of white rice AND a whole potato. It was too much starch for me. They were out of Baklava so dessert was a baked banana marinated in Kahlua with ice cream. The banana was disgusting and I had to eat the ice cream fast, with my fork, because it was quickly melting from the heat of the bananas. It took me hours, three squirts of Mio and four pieces of Juicy Fruit to get rid of the taste of rotten bananas.

We were biting our nails in the ferry lineup. You can imagine our relief to be the last car on. The next ferry was a two hour wait.

I knit two pair of these in between walking, shopping and eating.

My but it's good to be home.

Welcome home! I know you've been home awhile, but I'm just catching up.... What a lovely place to visit! May you remember the scenery and forget the food....

I wonder if you would like Bananas Foster. They are cooked in brown sugar
and butter and some kind of liquor and set on fire. I think you get whipped
cream on the side. They make it at your table at Brennen's in New Orleans.
It is one of my favorite culinary memories.

In Las Vegas one of the buffets always has Bananas Foster available, made with lots of butter, brown sugar, and rum. I don't like cooked bananas, either, so just dip out the sauce. The Rio has it ready in the morning and we put it on oatmeal.

My banana tasted like it was waaaay too ripe for human consumption. I couldn't even taste the Kahlua.

Sounds like you had a good time. Sorry about the bad Greek meal. Lamb souvlaki might have been a better choice, but it all depends on the place. We have a great eat in-take out Greek cafe about 15 minutes' drive. We get gyros there every few weeks. And I haven't made egg-lemon soup in a while, so I might do that soon. Home-made is best. It has to be foamy when served and you can't hardly do that in a restaurant.

I don't like to eat dead sheep, adults or babies. I just like to use their lovely, soft fleeces.

That's a beautiful sweater you are modeling there, and those gloves! Perfection.

Thanks. That's my Aran sweater in alpaca. It's warmer than my jacket and there was a definite nip in the air.
