Interesting People

I get to meet some pretty interesting people aka characters at the local craft market. Take today for instance. This morning a lady told me she used to love to knit but arthritis put an end to her favourite hobby. Then she proceeded to reveal to me her pain remedy. You take some white raisins (even told me where to buy them) and put them in a jar. Pour in enough gin to cover the raisins and loosely cover the jar. Leave it to sit on the counter for a couple of weeks and voile'. Instant pain relief by ingesting one tablespoon of gin and raisins. Sounds quite logical to me. I just want to know......what are the raisins for?

Then there's the dirty old man who comes by my booth every week to tell me disgusting, stupid "jokes". His favourite is this:
DOM - I used to sew but I had to give it up.
Tormented listener - Why?
DOM - Because I don't menstrate.

Then there were the five ladies who walked by. They were all of varying ages and their all carried the exact same handbag with palm trees and pink flamingos on them. Had they been a bit closer to my booth I might have asked if they belonged to a gang.

Next Sunday is the last craft market until next May. I'm going to miss these interesting people.........maybe not the dirty old man.

I've heard that raisins soaked in vodka does the same thing. I wonder why....?

Let's take it easy on the DOM in case there are any on mybloggers.

Is there something you want to tell us?

I'm surrounded by juniper trees. Maybe I should try brewing gin with the berries...

I don't like gin. It's like drinking old perfume. Do you think raisins soaked in Bailey's Irish Cream would work?

How funny. I hate dirty old men and that was a very sexist joke about sewing.

The next time he shows up, and I'm sure he will, I will embarrass him by standing up and shouting, "That's disgusting. Get away from me." People will think he's a flasher.

I've heard of "red hat society" ladies, but never pink handbag. I have arthritis, but I'm not trying this remedy. Unless I allow my wild grapes to dry into raisins!

you're not trying it because you don't drink alcohol? I'm trying it. Yay gin.

I still don't understand what the raisins have to do with it.

There's a dirty old (disabled) man at the leisure centre. I just keep walking if he tries to talk to me.

Sitting in my booth, I'm a captive audience.

Stupid old man.

I won't repeat the one about the mailman, the housewife and the sheet with the hole in it.

I don't get the DOM's joke. Does it make sense to you, or is he just suggesting that sewing is women's work? Thanks for the white raisin/gin remedy. I am going to try it right away. I mean RIGHT AWAY. And I love that I have a use for the gin that we rarely serve. All of our hard liquor is years old, but I am told it doesn't spoil.

It doesn't work but try it anyway. Maybe it just didn't do it for me. It is
supposed to be the juniper in gin.
reply by elderjane on Sept 25, 2012 5:37 AM ()
I don't get it either. That's why I called them "stupid" jokes. not only does it not spoil, I believe it improves with age....or is that wine and cheese....

"People watching" is an interesting hobby.

I thoroughly enjoy it.
