Good Morning Port Alberni!

I was woken this morning at the ungodly hour of 8:30 to the rat-a-tat-tat of a mini jack hammer. The woodpecker was relentlessly trying to dig bugs out of my aluminum flashing near the roof. He eventually gave up thinking he might have better luck finding some grubs in my stucco wall. The stucco wall we had recently and expensively painted. I'm pretty sure the brochure didn't mention anything about the coloured coating standing up to woodpeckers so I got out of bed and noisily flung open the window while screaming, "GET OFF MY HOUSE!" thus confirming the neighbours' suspicions of my sanity (or lack thereof).

Wildlife is a factor since we moved down here from New York. Who knew? Although up north, we did have squirrels looking into our bathroom windows which never bothered me, but Ed would pull the shades.

OK, so it's funny now but it wasn't funny at 8:30 in the morning.

Our flickers are more likely to attack the house than the woodpeckers, but it wouldn't surprise me if the woodpeckers could try out the gutters some time. In the summer they come drink out of the hummingbird feeders.

I think it was a flicker as there was no red on it's head or wings.

I was wondering where our woodpecker went. I hope he had a good flight north.
