Home & Garden > We're Getting a Heat Pump

We're Getting a Heat Pump

DH and I had finally decided that this was the year to redo the sidewalks and steps around the house. We have a massive fir tree in our yard that is cracking and shifting our walks and mini retaining walls and needs to be removed. The sidewalks are so narrow I remember it was always difficult to keep the wheels of a stroller on the pavement. So, we had absolutely, definitely decided to.....**Oh look! A home show! Lets go see what's there.** There were four or five different companies touting heat pumps and DH spoke with each and every one. By the time we left the home show we/he had absolutely, definitely decided on getting a heat pump (although, I was personally eying the hot tubs) instead of the new concrete.
It was only supposed to take one day for installation but there were some heat pump emergencies today so only one fellow came out to measure and dismantle our furnace. The other fellows will be coming tomorrow to do the actual installation and electrical hook up. Then I just sit back and wait for a heat wave to stike. Maybe we can get a hot tub instead of new sidewalks next year.;o)

Always nice to get improvements. i like paved driveways too, but comfort comes first. Ed is a hard sell. He would have come home with nothing.

When we moved in here many years ago, they were just starting to promote heat pumps. I asked your Dad if we should get one, and he said he didn't want to listen to a pump all night long, so now I listen to my neighbors pump, and they get the easy bills. I think we should have got one.

How nice! You will be ready for any kind of weather. A few months ago I was wondering how it is that there is that box outside the house, and how does that translate into cold air blowing through my heat ducts. Found an explanation on the Internet, and all I can say is I don't know how anyone ever invented refrigeration, it's a miracle.
