On Tuesday DH and I took a cruise on the M. V. Frances Barkley. More info here: https://www.ladyrosemarine.com/ We left the dock in Port Alberni at 8:00AM.
We passed by the Alberni Harbour Quay....
the Port Alberni Marina....
and the Port Alberni Terminal Assembly Wharf where the massive freighters are loaded with BC lumber.
Our first stop was at Kildonan, BC. I got this photo of the last remaining floating post office in Canada.
We made a quick stop at Haggard's Cove, BC....
and another at a Christian Bible Camp to off load supplies.
We chugged into Bamfield around lunch time and had an hour and 20 minutes to grab a bite to eat and hike back to the ship.
Coast Guard Station at Bamfield, BC.
We arrived back in Port Alberni just after 5:00PM. It was interesting and I did get to see a whale's tail as it dove underwater. However, nine hours is a bit long to be watching trees, trees and more trees go by. I was able to knit 3.5 dishcloths while on board.
Last week while on Hornby Island DH took these photos of Sandpiper Beach with it's strange rock formations jutting out to sea.
Vacation Souvenirs:
Large fused glass bowl.
Bottle of Wild Blackberry Wine from the Carbrea Winery on Hornby Island. It was full when we bought it.
Hand spun Merino/Silk which will look wonderful when/if I can detangle the darn thing.
Laceration and whopping great bruise from my fall in The Cove Restaurant at Squirrel Cove on Cortes Island.

looks like a relaxing trip. I remember us going on that trip with you and DH many years ago. Enjoyed it then too, saw a few bears along the waters edge, was glad I was on the boat.
The scenery is beautiful! Don't let the rest of that blackberry wine linger. Thanks for sharing the pictures!
That bowl is beautiful. Staggering around after drinking half a bottle of wine, fell at a restaurant? Just kidding. I'm sure there was a hidden obstruction that surprised you. Thanks for the pictures - it looks idyllic. I laughed at the 3.5 dishcloth measure. On the same scale, I only got .5 dishcloth done while Mr. Tbend was having his procedure.
Nice weather, too!
Great pix. Thanks for the travelogue. In the 60s I traveled through New Brunswick and Nova Scotia by car with my late first husband. As you say, not a lot happening, but very beautiful and I was not bored. Is that your elbow? Ouch.
ouch marg ya poor thing but that cruise looks so great
