I awoke one morning in New York City, on lower 2nd Avenue, to tremors. It was about 6 a.m. Oh, I thought, it's just the subway rumbling down below. WAIT A MINUTE. Second Avenue doesn't have a subway. Later I learned that New York had experienfed one of its rare earthquakes.

I live on Canada's west coast. Google Ring of Fire. It's scarey.

Is this common? Here in Oklahoma, we believe ours are somehow related to the process of hydraulic fracturing for oil and gas. Are they doing that in Canada as well?

We are having several milder ones a week. They put cracks in the ceiling.

It was pretty close to Tofino. When you first notice it you're thinking "What the heck is that?" Your next thought is "OH MY GOD! EARTHQUAKE!"
