New Dentist

I had my first appointment with my new dentist this morning. He has quite the accent and is a little difficult to understand but I'm not too shy about saying, "Excuse me?" or "I beg your pardon?" They wanted to know when I last saw a dentist and I couldn't tell them. It's been so long, I really have no idea. I asked DH and he thinks it's been about five years. I'm good with that (although I feel it's been more like seven). Time stands still at the dentist's. I was there for almost two hours for x-rays and cleaning. I wasn't being worked on for that long. A lot of the time I sat waiting; in the waiting room, in the dental chair, at the reception desk. I'm glad I took my knitting. I'm also glad it's over and the only work I need to have done is a 30+ year old filling replaced. I have already made the appointment for that. The hygienist told me my teeth are in great shape and to just keep doing whatever I'm doing.

Hate the dentist. It's always bad news.

Why do you think it's been five or seven years since my last appointment? Rhetorical question.

I have been intending to make a dental appointment for the past year, but still procrastinating as usual, only missed one year so far when they talked me into having the fluoride, and it made me sick.

I intended to make one for at least five years. Now my pearly whites are pearly white.

Congrats to you. It's really something to get those people to tell you 'good job, keep it up' instead of a big lecture on all the things you're doing wrong and finding a whole bunch of work they claim has to be done.

It's such a relief.

So, no pix of your teeth? I have been seeing a dentist twice a year since I was in my 20s. Was that all wasted? Could I have good teeth without all those visits?
