Port Alberni Crafters' Market
Port Alberni Crafters' Market
Thank goodness yesterday's is over with. The temperature hit 33C/91F while we crafters baked in the sun. Actually we had all taken shelter in whatever patches of shade were available. Some under the covered walkways and others in their booths. As the market is held down by the waterfront in Harbour Quay's Spirit Square there is usually a nice cool breeze blowing but not yesterday. The air was still and the customers few, not counting the wasps I had to keep shooing away from my iced tea. Next week I'm taking my bug killing tennis racket. It works great on wasps, flies, mosquitoes, children, A-holes who blow cigarillo smoke in my direction; all manner of pests. I only made two sales, down from last week's seven but I still made a profit so it was worth melting in the heat. Also, I was very well behaved and didn't snap at the bozos who thought my felted bowls

and baby cocoons

were hats and then picked up a skull hat

and asked, "What's this?"
A new eatery opened up in Spirit Square while we were on vacation. I think it's called Homestead something? They have buffalo burgers and pulled pork on the menu. A nice compliment to Turtle Island fish and chips and the ice cream place. I tried the buffalo burger yesterday and it was delicious. Next Sunday I'm going to try their pulled pork salad.
Speaking of next Sunday it's the annual Toy Run. About a thousand bikers will be in town. I'm hoping some of them will come to the Crafter's Market and buy my skull hats.
