Kitty Woes

Well, we (Peaches & I) just got back from his most recent vet appointment. Our only pet carrier is a small size and Peaches is not, so I had been carting him around in a big plastic tote box. It was easy to plunk him in the box and slam down the lid. Of course once he realized he was in the box he tried to fight and claw his way out so eight strips of duct tape were necessary to hold the lid on. The box does have four little holes on each end so Peaches could breath but they are awfully small holes and I just wasn't comfortable keeping him in the box when the vet was 45 minutes behind schedule. So, I bought a larger pet carrier. The new one is a medium size and Peaches fits inside very nicely, once I manage to get him inside. I do wish the doors on these things were larger though. It's truly impressive how a 6.3 pound cat can turn himself into a clawing, struggling, mass of fur and muscle twice the size of the door opening. I may have caught his paw in the door and I know he caught his claws in my hand. As soon as I got the door closed and locked he backed up to the wire mesh door and peed. It pooled on the carpet and in the pet carrier and OMG, the caterwauling; I've never heard such sounds come out of that cat before. We may go back to the box. Anyway, I think Peaches is back to just regular cat vomiting, hairballs and such, but we are having another blood test done to see if his liver enzymes have improved. I'm hoping the vet will call with the results as I REALLY don't want to take him in again. I'll be spending this afternoon nursing my wounds.

This episode of The Adventures of Not-So-Peachy Peaches has now come to a close. After a much needed "first-aid break" by the director, producer, and choreographer...and a rest...it will be determined if a sequel will be necessary. Please stay tuned for updates.

Sometimes it's easier to put the pet carrier upright, with the opening facing up.Just drop him in when he least expects it.This is how we did it at the Kennel I worked at.I did have to wear leather gloves to my shoulders with some cats.Laurie

Ouch, Marg! Try putting one of those balls of yarn the cats are always getting into in the carrier. He might just run right in.

OMG, that sounds like a nightmare. Cats don't like those carriers do they?

I'm sorry for laughing..but I so understand where your coming from. I have to drive 16 miles to our vet and the whole time it sounds like someone dying in the backseat I also have the scar to prove that I do win the battle of kitty in the cat carrier...
