Last week was Port Alberni's, The Ultimate Fishing Town, Salmon Festival. DH took me there for the fisherman's breakfast on Friday and Saturday and we downed two eggs, two pancakes, two strips of bacon and two sausages. He offered to take me on Sunday too but I had the Craft Market. I made up for the lack of a yummy brekkie by having a bison burger for lunch. I'll get back on the diet wagon just as soon as we finish off DH's birthday cake.

DH turned 65 last Wednesday. He is now, officially, a senior citizen and can now indulge in all those cheaper rates reserved for students and old folks. Maybe he'll take me to a movie.

Nursekim and friend joined us for the celebration.

This weekend is Port Alberni's Fall Fair. We live so close to the fairgrounds we have to keep our doors and windows closed until 11:00 PM when they shut down the entertainment. I swear they increase the volume every year when the bands are playing. This evening I have a 2 hour shift in the hobbies and crafts building to demonstrate knitting. I expect it will just be 2 hours of knitting in public. I'd rather do a spinning demo. People will stop to watch a spinner, whereas I expect them to just walk on by a knitter.

Update:
The knitting demo was an utter waste of time. There was no sign or anything to indicate who I was, why I was there or what I was doing. People just walked by thinking I was knitting while resting my feet after traipsing around the fairgrounds.

Best birthday wishes to your dear husband. Sorry, had to laugh about the knitting. The only people who would stop to disturb a knitter would be other knitters who wanted to see what you were working on, and most of them wouldn't need to ask, they'd identify it from a distance.

In the space of two hours a total of four people spoke to me. One was a kid looking for the washrooms. One was an adult asking directions (I must have had Fall Fair Official stamped on my forehead.) and two knitters asked me what I was knitting.

When you do this again, persuade them to let you spin. You're right, a knitter just looks like someone finishing the sweater while waiting for someone.

Apparently they were planing on having some spinning demonstrations but they couldn't find enough spinners willing to volunteer. They never asked me.

I agree, spinning is more eye catching.

You don't often see spinning in public.
